The first time I understand the meaning of Conduct

I understand why Buddha keeps us from 5 things and God gives 10 commandments.
I wonder that the goodness is in action in mind not in obedience. Follow the conduct is bound by them. But follow the conduct is the first step to renounce SELFISH.

Follow some kind of conduct is necessary to renounce Selfish. Can not say I am not selfish but still go to rob.
But never be trapped by conduct.
